Year 11 Results 2023

The class of 2023 will be well remembered at Wyedean School and Sixth form centre as a lovely year group who despite the challenges of COVID have performed exceptionally well. Accessing live lessons remotely at KS3 was incredibly difficult at such a young age but as with their attitude to that, they’ve tackled their GCSEs and BTECS with equal determination. They are also the first year 11 group sitting exams in England to have not had any additional concessions since the pandemic.

Gwennan Jeremiah, Principal, stated that, “I could not be more proud of every student today collecting their results. They are an incredibly positive and cohesive group of students who will be fondly remembered for years to come. We are delighted to welcome so many back to sixth form and continue their educational journey with them. For those moving on to college or apprenticeships, we wish them well in their exciting futures that lay ahead.”

Mr Jones, Head of Year 11 stated “I am delighted to see the wealth of achievements of Year 11 students in this exam season. This year group have had to grapple with the devastating impact that COVID had on their education. From Year 8 when the pandemic first hit, through Year 9 where learning was either classroom based or online at home and in to year 10 when further restrictions were still in place, they have been expected to fully meet every challenge. On top of this, their final assessments have now returned to pre-COVID exam structure and content, despite all the interruptions and barriers to their development and learning. It is testament to their drive and determination to succeed that they have acquitted themselves so very well. For some, the journey has been more difficult than others, overcoming obstacles and facing challenges with resilience. I am extremely proud of their positive approach towards their studies and the fortitude they have shown.

It is of particular note that nearly half of the year group outperformed their target grades.
I want to wish on behalf of the tutor team and myself, all students the best of luck going forward and encourage them to embrace all opportunities that life presents. Well done everyone!”
