GCSE Students Celebrate Excellent Success at Wyedean School
Students at Wyedean School are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results today, achieving impressive outcomes across a wide range of subjects.
This memorable year group, known for its personality, character and ambition, secured 221 grades at 7-9, including 126 grades at 8 and 9, equivalent to the former A*/A** standard.
Principal Gwennan Jeremiah said:
"We are incredibly proud of this year's students. They have brought energy, humour and individuality to our school community and their results reflect both their hard work and resilience. It has been a privilege to watch them grow and succeed, and we wish them every success in the future."
Vice Principal, Dr Julie Smith states, "It gives me immense pride to offer my warmest congratulations to our students on their outstanding GCSE results this year. Your determination, resilience, and consistent effort have been richly rewarded, and these results are a testament to the dedication you have shown throughout your studies.
I would also like to recognise and thank our remarkable teaching and support teams. Their commitment, knowledge, and continuous encouragement have been instrumental in supporting our students and helping them achieve this important success.
To all of our students, these accomplishments represent an important milestone and open the door to exciting future opportunities. Very well done, and sincere congratulations on all that you have achieved."
We are delighted that the majority of our students will be returning to Wyedean School Sixth Form and look forward to welcoming them back on 3 September for enrolment.
For any young people who are still considering their next steps, places remain available in our impressively successful Sixth Form. We offer a broad range of A Level and BTEC qualifications, all taught in person at Wyedean, by subject experts. We also offer a "step-up to A levels" one-year qualification for students who may not have achieved the five grade 4 or C grades needed for our level 3 qualifications. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact sixthform@wyedeanschool.com.
Congratulations to all our students on their achievements today. The class of 2026 should be immensely proud.

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Year 13 students as they receive their A Level and BTEC qualifications today!
As an inclusive school, we believe that success comes in many forms and that every student’s journey is unique. Whether students are progressing to university, apprenticeships, employment, training or taking time to travel, we are proud of all they have achieved.
This year, our A Level students achieved 80% A*-C grades, 53% A*-B grades, with 24% of all grades at A*-A. Our BTEC students also performed incredibly well, with 39% of grades awarded at Distinction* to Distinction and 79% at Distinction* to Merit.
Principal Gwennan Jeremiah said, "The class of 2026 has been a wonderful year group who have demonstrated resilience, ambition and character throughout their time with us. We are incredibly proud of every student and the individual path they have chosen. Their destinations reflect the breadth of talent within our school, and we wish them every success and happiness in the future."
Assistant Principal, Director of Sixth form, Laura Watkins has expressed her delight on today's outcomes, “Today is a day of celebration for our students, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. These results represent the culmination of two years of hard work, commitment and perseverance. They reflect not only academic success, but also the resilience, determination and character that our students have shown throughout their time in Sixth Form.
At Wyedean School and Sixth Form Centre, we are passionate about supporting every student to achieve their personal best. While examination results are an important milestone, we believe that education extends far beyond grades alone. Our aim is to develop confident, capable and compassionate young people who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
This cohort has embraced every aspect of Sixth Form life, taking advantage of enrichment opportunities, leadership roles, community involvement, work experience and wider personal development activities. Through these experiences, they have developed the skills, independence and self-belief that will serve them well long after they leave Wyedean.
We are exceptionally proud not only of what they have achieved academically, but of the remarkable young adults they have become.
These achievements are the result of a genuine partnership between students, staff and families. I would like to thank our dedicated teaching and support staff for their unwavering commitment to helping students fulfil their potential, and to parents and carers for the encouragement and support they have provided throughout this important stage of their education.
As our students prepare for the next chapter, we are delighted to see them progressing to a wide range of exciting destinations. Many have secured places at leading universities across the UK, including a number of Russell Group institutions, where they will study an impressive range of subjects from medicine, dentistry, engineering to the arts, humanities and social sciences. Others have gained places on highly competitive apprenticeship programmes and places at music and performing arts centres of excellence whilst some are moving directly in to employment and training, pursuing pathways that reflect their individual talents, ambitions and aspirations.
We have had excellent results from our students today with a significant number gaining straight A's and Distinctions across the range of subjects. These results are wonderful and should be celebrated but we also recognise that some of our students have faced and overcome significant challenges and their achievements are just as important and worthy of recognition. We won't be sharing specific grades and names as we believe that is for families to do as they see fit, but needless to say we are incredibly proud of each of them.
The Class of 2026 has made a significant contribution to the life of our Sixth Form community. They leave Wyedean with much more than qualifications; they leave with the confidence, adaptability, leadership skills and experiences needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. We have every confidence that they will continue to achieve great things and make a positive impact in their chosen professions, communities and beyond.
On behalf of everyone at Wyedean School and Sixth Form Centre, I would like to congratulate all of our Year 13 students on their achievements and wish them every success and happiness for the future."
